[dev] Dynamic Fields in transition action

I would like to assign the value selected in a dynamic field drop down list to the value parameter in a transition action, as in OTRS Process Management. It appears that the values can only be hard-coded but I need to be able to assign a variable value from a dynamic field. Can anyone point me to a way to do this? Thanks…Dan.
