Yes, this is true, so several option: - comment the line - replacing mail.example.com by <Your mail server> - rename .fetchmailrc to .fetchmailrc.example and add documentation in the README or INSTALL.
I would like to do that, and for .procmailrc and .mailfilter, too, but will have to take a dive into the spec files beforehand to not break building packages.
Commenting the line is the most simple.
