Please follow the steps described in the English HTML manual which is directly loaded, if you open http://doc.otrs.org The PDF manual is for version 1.3 and the HTML manual for the current 2.x release.
Another question: I was told using RPM would be much easier. I did try and then screwed up the web server. After I unpack the rpm file, I tried to restart the apache web server. However, I got a bunch of error and the server just stopped and did not like to start again. I contacted my hosting company and they said I changed something in the httpd.conf so the apache did not run properly. Finally I just restore a backup of the whole server and need to start over again.
Without a detalied description about the steps you have done and the rpm's you have installed its inpossible to say what went wrong. Also error logs and your config files for apache would be helpfull.
Finally, the step 6 of the PDF manual says follow README.webserver for configuration. However, the instructions in the readme file apply to SUSE and I do not know which part I should start following for FC1 server. Any help?
Please follow the steps described in the chapter about the installation in th HTML manual. On FC1 the webserver user IMHO is apache and the webserver group is also apache. Just replace them for the call of the call of the SetPermissions.sh script. Also the rpm's might have other names, but you should be able to find the right rpm's, the names shouldn't differ to much.
