I have no comments on your LDAP problem (we don't use LDAP), but I just wanted to say that you're not supposed to change the Defaults.pm file. If you want to override anything set in there you better override it by setting your preferred values in Config.pm. This way you can always just use the new Defaults.pm when upgrading to a newer version.
