Well I just upgraded from 2.1.7 to 2.2.6 and still get the same problem.
When I run /opt/otrs/bin/PostMasterPOP3.pl from the command line I get:-
[trixbox1.localdomain bin]# /opt/otrs/bin/PostMasterPOP3.pl Message 1/254 (info@blah.blah.xxx) Malformed UTF-8 character (unexpected continuation byte 0xa9, with no preceding start byte) in substitution iterator at /opt/otrs/Kernel/System/EmailParser.pm line 715.
Try switching OTRS to use ISO-8859-1 (or whatever is applicable in your part of the world) as the default character set. I'm not near an OTRS right now so I can't point you to the exact configuration directive. Go to Admin -> SysConfig and search for "charset".

Thanks Lars, found the option at Config Options: Framework -> Core but changing it, and hitting save, it just resets back to UTF-8 ? Does not seem to let me change it? Mike
