We don't run Debian, but if it doesn't work then you might want to file a bug against that package.
But if the database is already in place, why would I need to re-run the scripts?
The database schema has changed from 2.0.4 to 2.2.4. The scripts modify the database so it works properly on the new version of OTRS. You cannot use a OTRS 2.0.4 database with the OTRS 2.2.4 code. Nils Breunese.
