Michiel has answered the question as to avoid creating of new tickets: set Ticket::NumberGenerator::CheckSystemID to No in SysConfig Source: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18145197/change-of-systemid-otrs I'm not sure if removing the system ID from the ticket number is supported...
