Am I correct in interpreting that to say that switching from db -> fs is possible provided you are prepared to accept that any attachments already in the system will become hidden.
Yes. Or you need to patch Kernel/System/Ticket/ArticleStorageFS.pm to do also lookups in the database (like Kernel/System/Ticket/ArticleStorageDB.pm is doing to in the fs). PS: If you really need it, http://www.otrs.de/ could do it for you. Just in case.
