There are SourceCharset and DestCharset with the current cvs 
   Kernel/System/CustomerUser/LDAP.pm module.

           # ldap host
           Host => 'bay.csuhayward.edu',
           [...]
           # if your frontend is e. g. iso-8859-1 and the charset of your
