I don't. It expires WHILE I am writing a reply so that I have to re-login as soon as I hit "Send Mail". A colleague of mine has complained about this, too. He usually comes at 8:30am and leaves before 5pm.
Nice job times ;) But where is his problem then with an 8h session time? Should be enough up to a few minutes.
For him, yes. But I'm a bit more egoistic :-) My working hours are quite irregular and I may be answering emails between 7am and 11pm (14 hour span), depending on the day, etc etc.
So you should be able to solve your problem by setting the session time to a much higher value than 8h.
I can't think of a timeout value that does guarantee that it will never
expire while I'm actually in front of the PC, because I may login at so
many different times with no prediction.
I will increase the timeout to 12 hours, though, as this will cover many
cases.
But this was not the point. I don't mind to re-login every few hours ,
that's ok with me. I'm just not sure that forgetting about a message is
the perfect solution for any software solution.
Here's how I would fancy the situation:
* Daniel answers a ticket
* Daniel clicks on "Send Mail"
* OTRS sees that the session has expired in the meantime
* Daniel has to login
* OTRS goes back to message compose view and has REMEMBERED what
Daniel has written previously [1]
Like I said, I don't mind to relogin. But I seriously mind to lose a
mail I have just written. The probability that it's been a long email or
one where one has put considerable thought into is quite high. Usually
going back in the browser and copying the text works. Usually.
