Hi Frank,
I both agree and disagree with you.
Open source is open source.
Linux distributions are open source too but there are lots of versions out there.. some free.. some free after some years turn into paid services.. Suse, Novell you know about that...
Maybe otrs will be like that, it will be developed for sometime and free version will be lite and full version will be a paid service.
Even today for getting services you have to pay wrong? no right!
And you know , it's ok for me. It looks like it's free during the development phases and they turn into paid services. It's ok, really ok.
The point is : If CISS is working on all versions even customized (localized) ones. For example i have modified some codes too to meet my needs. (it's free and open source i can modify the code ? that's why it's open) If any development or add-on will work without destroying my structure.. It's not breaking the rules for me. I'm the customer.. If i'm saying it so... It is..

Sarper

Hi Torsten,
I don't know how feel about your posting. I really like open source software and the was how it grows and how a community is working on it.
But your posting and your OTRS::CiCs seems to brake the idea of a open source community.
I did some research on bugs.otrs.org and I was thinking why you do _not_ contribute your ideas and changes as patches as everyone else is doing it? The reason why you should do this this way is to improve OTRS it self. This is the life cycle how an open source projects works.
It seems that you do modifications to OTRS and just sell it as your own (which is really _not_ the intention of open source).
So can you clarify why you do not contribute your modifications to the OTRS project?
Feedback would be really welcome!
Frank
