Thanks to everybody for their help! I downloaded the KQ theme from:
followed the instructions and was, indeed, able to merge tickets! YEAH! I am still living in fear from the statement that "merging isnt... perfect" But otherwise happy, Thank you David and Carlos for your replies. -Jonathan
