Even in this day and age, character sets sometimes are somewhat of a dark art.
What issues do you have? Is it issues with quoted printable mails that
are sent TO OTRS or that are sent FROM OTRS? in the last case it might
be interesting to understand how you have configured outgoing email.
Also, a factor can be what web browser you use. This seems a bit
strange but if you would use Windows XP, which typically not runs full
Unicode, as opposed to Vista or later, it could be that your web
browser forces OTRS to render data in ISO-8559-1 instead of Unicode.
If you can tell us more about your setup and where exactly you're
experiencing issues, maybe we can offer some advice.

Hi list,
for now we're still using OTRS 2.4. An Upgrade to 3.X is planned but will not happen very soon.
Since a long time we had the Problem that UTF-8 quoted printable mails are not correctly displayed.
All öäüß are messed up. The OTRS is set to defaultcharset utf8 and also the database behin it is running utf8.
