Hi List,
I just been in contact with OTRS support and it seems to be a reproducible
issue.
A work around was possible by using the sendmail module instead
of SMTP (Admin -> interface ->sysconfig (search for SMTP).
Kind regards,
Tom

Hi Daniel,
Thanks. I changed in Config.pm the Default Charset to UTF-1 and
also changed it through the admin frontend.
The error is gone but it still does not work quite as expected,
For example the following sentence:
François a mange tout le pâté de Pépé Nuñoz! (this
sentence doesn’t make sense but is a nice test :) )
Gets displayed correctly in the web frontend but, when
mailed to the customer, the customer receives the following:
Franois a mange tout le pt de pp nuoz.
So the special characters are simply omitted now…
Any ideas?
(I am subscribed now to the mailing list so an individual
reply is not needed now :))

Hi Tom,
Well, I have just installed and I don't know too much about it but your
problem sounds as new updates have overwritten your setting of UTF8 so you are
currently getting en_US.ISO-8859-1 instead of the french's one. You could
perhaps sort out by using the Admin Area (I think to have read something
around) or if you have your installation allocated under a user of system
you could try to add LANG='the french UF8' in your .bashrc and/or .bash_profile
according to correspond.
Daniel.

Hi List,
We recently upgraded our OTRS ticketing system to 2.2.1.
Since the upgrade it is no longer possible to send out mail with special
characters (like ç, é, è, à). The message does get into the database but it is
not mailed out.
The error we are seeing in OTRS is the following:
Software error:
Wide character in syswrite at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.5/Net/Cmd.pm line 436,
<PRODUCT> line 252.
Do you have any idea what might cause this?
Please include my email address when replying since I am not currently
subscribed to the list.
Kind regards,
Tom
