Let it stay at 10, or lower it and set the MaxRequestsPerChild value higher. That will help the load and limit memory better. If you're currently using mod_perl yoy want to stop that. mod_perl eats all the memory it can get. You should probably take a look at http://httpd.apache.org and read up on how to configure Apache.
