Hi Florian, that would be odd. ;-) Because IE uses as you know (?) individually, user-friendly error-pages, that means he won't give you the customized error pages, definied in the .htaccess file. So it's a bad work around. - Dan Florian Gattung wrote:

hi Daniel, I checked the apache configuration file yet again and no thr arent any errors in defining the <directoryindex>. meta-refresh option is a good work around but i would like to keep it as a last possible option.

Config: Apache 1.3.x, Win2k, ActivePerl 5.6.1, Mysql

Hi Imran,

if you reloaded your apache configuration and the index directive still doesn't work, try to check it once again (e.g. syntax error).

Another fix: set an simple meta refresh, that points to index.pl-file. It will do it, too.
