If you saying that your ISP blocks smtp traffic you are probably in a little trouble already. However, I suspect this is not the case and they are only allowing authenticated smtp for mail relay through their mail servers. You have two options set up postfix (or exim if you prefer) to connect to the smtp server for outgoing mail (check the docs for your choice to find out how to configure this for authenticated smtp), or enable the OTRS smtp module for this purpose. Either fetchmail can be used to acquire POP3 email, or the otrs POP3 option can be used. If in fact they only allow you to e-Mail through a web site or dedicated client and not directly from the connected machine then you need a new ISP. Without the ability to connect via smtp no mail will get offsite. Onsite Services said:
Hi, I am able to install otrs on debian sarge, but I am having some trouble figuring out the email part of things.
I'm not sure how to get the system to send/receive emails (I don't have a local mail server so I'd like to use my isp or another email account)
My Isp will filter any sort of sendmail activity because they think that the machine is a zombie.
I'll be hosting this out of my home for now with a dynamic WAN IP perhaps using dyndns or something to make it available to clients later but that's a seperate issue for now.
Can anyone provide any assistance or suggestions ?
