There was another follow-up email to this thread from Tobias Lutticke, his suggestion may work as well and may be easier. I have not tried his way, but will do so on my test system when I get a chance. Hope this helps you.
I configured the described sync feature for agent authentication. Tim wrote about customer authentication which I did not try via LDAP (yet). Therefore my suggestion may have been a bit off-topic regarding your issue. Anyway, maybe you want to LDAP-authenticate your agents as well. For customer authentication try the solution Tim outlined.
