It seems my queue system is working already and all i need is to test it via email. I want to test it with my local otrs@localhost account. When I tried shell#mail otrs@localhost, its working fine coz i see the mail when i vi /var/mail/otrs. But it doesn't appear in the otrs queue. How do i send this mail to the otrs queue?
Actually, what im trying to do is to be able to receive email messages from our partners who may report problems in our network. Im planning to have saklolo@asti.dost.gov.ph as the email address dedicated to receive network problem reports. So when a partner institution wants to report a problem, they would send it to this address. Now, i want my otrs system to fetch this emails from the mail server (located in a different machine) and put it in the otrs queue.
If im going to install fetchmail, what are the things i would need to configure? Can I also use procmail in fetching emails from a remote server?
Ok. You need procmail to pipe the incoming emails (MTA - like shell#mail otrs@localhost) through the PostMaster.pl -=> Then your email will be shown in a queue. If your email to root@localhost is in /var/mail/otrs, the system (MTA) works without procmail! If this is working, go to the next step. If on mail.asti.dost.gov.ph is a pop3 box and you want this email to your otrs system, use Fetchmail. Fetchmail is fetching emails from a pop3 box to a local user (in our case the otrs@localhost user). Config file of procmail: ~otrs/.procmailrc Config file of fetchmail: ~otrs/.fetchmailrc
Salamat po.
