find out more about ur CPU to see if it performs better for thread or forked processes. Once u are sure, uncheck the other one. Thread and forked shouldn't run concurrently.
Hi Frank, I think this is due to using the Apache's event MPM (http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/event.html). Perhaps it's not a good choice for a beginner like me. I will read about this whole topic and then adjust the configuration.
