AW: AW: [otrs] Admin button gone for root@localhost

Thanks for the feedback Volker. That's my point, surely through the browswer interface I should be able initiate tasks and the "back-end" bit is automatically done. Just like if I add new groups or users, they are automatically created and rights etc. are set. Surely, if I then decide to rename them, everything should also be automatically done? ... if this is not possible, which files do I need to change (with regard to Group name change)? Thanks for your help. ________________________________ Von: otrs-bounces@otrs.org [mailto:otrs-bounces@otrs.org] Im Auftrag von Volker.Lipper@de.mecglobal.com Gesendet: Dienstag, 24. Hi Danie
Well, I re-ran installer.pl, deleted my old otrs db and created a new one from fresh. Yes, root@localhost now has the Admin button back ;o)...
... I know what my initial problem was... I renamed the "admin" group to "mycompany admin". As soon as one does this, root@localhost or any other member of the "admin" (now "mycompany admin") group no longer has the Admin button. Surely this is a bug?
Any ideas?

Hi ,
I'm afraid I don't have an easy answer for you , best I can think of (if you haven't already reinstalled) is to reinstall.
There's a Defaults.pm file in /Kernel/Config with some helpful info , just copy whatever you need into your Config.pm
Alternatively set "$Self->{'SecureMode'} = 0" in your Config.pm and run the installer.pl again.

Hi Danie, I still have not managed to change my root@localhost rights. Not sure which Config.pm file to change and what code within. Any further feedback would be really appeciated. Thanks.

Yep, you've got it - I played around with Group settings! I done a quick search for Config.pm and found 9 in different dirs. Please advise which one I need to edit and which command line - is it "$Self->{'SecureMode'} = 0;"
Thanks

Hmmm , did you fiddle around with the Group settings by any chance? Best would be to set your Security to 0 in Config.pm , and start over :P
Maybe create a "superuser" account to avoid such things...

I've been 'playing' with OTRS 2.0.4 (installed on a Windows platform). Logged in as root@localhost and through the Admin menu, I setup many system-wide settings. I rebooted my server, logged in again as root@localhost and the "Admin" button has disappeared! Aaahhh, now I can't continue with the system setup - what have I done wrong and how can I fix it?
Many thanks for your help. _______________________________________________ OTRS mailing list: otrs - Webpage: http://otrs.org/ Archive: http://lists.otrs.org/pipermail/otrs To unsubscribe: http://lists.otrs.org/cgi-bin/listinfo/otrs Support oder Consulting für Ihr OTRS System? =http://www.otrs.de/

for searching these files grep will be your friend.... there are some other things that could not be done as you mention. by the way: you_did_not_add_admin_group. so you are not able to rename it. Li otrs-bounces@otrs.org schrieb am 24.01.2006 12:42:59:
