How to enter email address that is not in Customer Database

I set up otrs to look up customer information in a database. I also changed the form so that when an agent tabs out of the customer field, a search is automatically performed rather than having to click on "Search Customer". Now, when I enter an email address that is not found in the database, the search clears the field and does not allow me to use that address. Is there a way that I can still enter an email address that is not found in a customer database? Thanks, Tyler Hepworth

I use a CustomerUser DB as well. If the address is not in the DB, why do you perform a search? AFAIK the values entered are written to the DB verbatim.
