You can also install auto-apt and use that to find out what package provides what you're looking for: ---- # aptitude install auto-apt (...) # auto-apt update (...) # auto-apt search ldapsearch usr/bin/ldapsearch net/ldap-utils ---- auto-apt has more tricks up its sleeves.
