custom Customer User DB backend and authentication

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi! Just a quick question to verify my assumption: I'm currently evaluating OTRS. Our production DB (using MySQL) already contains customer accounts with login name and password. So I configured OTRS to use it as a data source wich works fine. However, am I right that it is not possible to use it as a source for authetication as well? Does is simply not work (yet) or did I miss something really obvious? (If I did, please point me to the correct FAQ/HOWTO.) So far I can view all relevant customer data in the admin interface and users can request new passwords but cannot log in. (Obviously, as I have not configured authentication yet as I could not find out how to set it up correctly...) Thanks for all answers! Greetings, Gunter Ohrner PS: I cannot post to this list using gmane do I have to be subscribed even to use the gateway or are gmane users not supposed to be able to post maybe due to spam reasons? I just asked as I fond mails posted via gmane in the ML archive. - -- +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + http://aachen.uni-dsl.de/ - Der direkte Draht in's Hochschulnetz! + +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ "Regression testing"? Ok, I hope I did not break a butterfly on a wheel but I changed my CustomerAuth module such that it optionally can use the same CustomerUser configuration block the CustomerUser backend uses. (I'll happily provide a patch if anyone is interested, altought my changes are probably not the best implementation as I don't know perl.) The problems I now have seem to be unrelated to that: Agents can only see queues they have full rw access to, it even is not sufficient to check all boxes but "rw" of an Agent in the Admin interface. Additionally an Agewnt can only move tickets to queues it has full rw access to, the "Move_to" permission does not seem to have any effect. I probably misunderstood something and misconfigured OTRS as a result, I guess? I could not find anything the the project's FAQ, however. The system I'm currently trying OTRS on is a pure Debisn Sid box with apache 1.3, mod_perl 1.29 (Debian package version 1.29.0.2-5cvs20040129), perl 5.8.3 and mysql 4.0.18, if this helps somehow. Uhm, yes, OTRS is 1.2.2... ;) Greetings, Gunter Ohrner - -- +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + http://aachen.uni-dsl.de/ - Der direkte Draht in's Hochschulnetz! + +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ It was Carrot who'd suggested to the Patrician that hardened criminals should be given the chance to "serve the community" by redecorating the homes of the elderly, lending a new terror to old age and, given Ankh-Morpork's crime rate, leading to at least one old lady having her front room wallpapered so many times in six months that now she could only get in sideways. -- (Terry Pratchett, Feet of Clay) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ + PGP-verschlüsselte Mails bevorzugt! + +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAc/UW0ORHvREo8l8RAkqVAJ0RNTOQ1TtV9rkH7FEdVZ9yZXuk6gCffegb /+RWpz2lEbCqqpZcyhA8xnc= =vpiI -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
