Hello, I have configured OTRS in local without major problem and I'm now trying to make it usable from the internet and I'm a little lost... I firstly wanted to install it on the website of the company but it is only accessible via FTP and I don't know how to install it without knowing where apache server, Mysql or Perl are installed (if they are...) Do I have to install them in the ftp or to make a webserver ? Thanks _________________________________________________________________ Windows Live Messenger sur i-mode : dialoguez avec vos amis depuis votre mobile comme sur PC ! http://mobile.live.fr/messenger/bouygues/

Usually you can upload files via FTP to a place where the webserver on the same machine can access them and serve them up (so agents and customers can use the OTRS web interface). In order to get OTRS running you will need more than just the ability to upload files though. You'll need to create a database, setup cronjobs and maybe install some Perl modules, etc. If that is not possible, I'm not sure things are going to work out. Nils Breunese.

In fact I can only upload files on the distant webserver but I can't work on them once they are uploaded. Do you tkink an upload of my files working in local in the webserver and changes in the file config.pm to adapt the configuration should work ? Or the only solution is to create a local webserver and redirect the URL on it ? _________________________________________________________________ Découvrez le Blog heroic Fantaisy d'Eragon! http://eragon-heroic-fantasy.spaces.live.com/

Take a look at the installation procedure (http://doc.otrs.org/2.2/en/ html/c267.html) and if you can do all that needs to be done. Since you only have FTP access installing using a prebuilt package (http:// doc.otrs.org/2.2/en/html/c267.html#installation-of-prepared-packages) is not going to be possible. Looking at the instructions for installing from source (http://doc.otrs.org/2.2/en/html/x354.html) you'll find some things that you won't be able to do either. Editing Config.pm is not the only thing you need to do. Creating a user and group, installing required Perl modules and setting up the cronjobs, etc. are all not possible when you have only FTP access.
Or the only solution is to create a local webserver and redirect the URL on it ?
That should work. Nils Breunese.
