This is a limition of your MySQL configuration probably (I you use the database to store attachments). Check out the max_allowed_packet setting: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/packet-too-large.html Nils Breunese.
Try increasing your max_allowed_packet in mysql.
