You just get the other tickets listed in the right column so that you can quickly review all linked tickets. Its utility is no more than adding a note with the following text: "this ticket is related to ticket #12343". - alessandro ranellucci.
It is useful for agent/user reference. For example, if a customer follows up an old ticket with you that got closed, create a link to that old ticket from the new ticket.
