Saluation: a Firstname: sd Lastname: f [WHAT?]

So I just sent a ticket from myself to OTRS.
On the right side, I see this:
Customer Info:
Salutation: a
Firstname: sd
Lastname: f
Login: beckman@purplecow.com
The email:
From: Peter Beckman

I've looked in the archives for why this happens, and the docs (maybe not closely enough) and couldn't find anything. I also looked at the code, and could not find anything...
I'm hoping people have had this problem before and can point out what is happening and how to fix it. Hopefully it is something I can patch/fix, not "upgrade..." Answers like "just upgrade to 1.3.0" will be kicked in the shins...
