OK, I screwed up...

...and didn't RTFM when applying the latest update via rpm. After doing so, I saw that I should have backed up everything and shut down services prior to runnning the update. I have the correct Config.pm in place and ran SetPermissions.sh. Now, I can login and see OTRS tickets, but when I zoom on one, the tree of entries is visible, but each one is blank. And when I try to post a new one, it crashes: Can't write /opt/otrs/var/log/TicketCounter.log: at /opt/otrs/Kernel/cpan-lib/CGI/Carp.pm line 301. Yes, I'm a reckless moron, but is there anything I can do to salvage the situation? Take care that /opt/otrs/var/log/TicketCounter.log is writable for the webserver user.
Thanks, Mike

Thanks, but I figured that one out. I still don't see any From, Subject, Created or body for any of the existing tickets, now, though. Maybe the new format is incompatible? Martin Edenhofer wrote:

Did you also the database update (see also UPGRADING file)? -Martin On Wed, Feb 25, 2004 at 04:07:40PM -0600, Mike Edwards wrote:

Martin, Yes, I did that but *after* upgrading via rpm. I'm wondering if my tables are hosed up now. Something must be OK if the tickets themselves are being found. You guys must have changed the database layout, huh? We didn't have *too* many tickets in the system, so it may not be a big deal to start over. (PostMasterPOP3.pl keeps having authentication failures, too.) If I run installer.pl again, will it clobber everything that's already there? If it is at all possible to at least salvage logins, prefs, queues, etc., that would be great. If I have to start from scratch, I'll take it as lesson learned! Thanks! Mike Martin Edenhofer wrote:

You just can drop an existin database with the installer.pl.

I would say, start from scratch (if possible).
Thanks! Mike

[ This got trapped due to file size, so I removed the attachment... ] I appreciate you taking the time to help me out here. I tried dropping the database through the installer.pl, set most things back in place and created a new ticket. It still will not display the details of the ticket. Should I just run rpm -e otrs and completely reinstall the otrs program, or do you think that will matter if the database itself is hosed? Thank you, Mike Martin Edenhofer wrote:
