strange block on orts application when going to admin->sysconfig

Hi, i set mysql to log the queries... I'm not sure what you are asking here?
I assume you also mean 5.5.22 as your version of MySQL?
Are you asking why otrs has connections open to your database all the time?
If so then that appears to be by design, OTRS runs as an application on top
of Apache+mod_perl and so is always active in memory and maintains
connections to the database.
For example on my system it shows 10 connections open:
