
I have a problem with OTRS (old version, 1.3.2). The database has grown a lot and now it takes A LONG time to load the pages!! How can I shrink or purge the database so that it becomes faster? Just deleting the articles is - IMHO - not the right way, because the articles still remain in the database. Right?! Please help on this. I need OTRS for work and I cannot work in this way, it takes 5 minutes to load the first page and sometimes several minutes to change from one page to the other. It's not my server, because other MySQL programs just work fine! Thanks, marc

I recommend to upgrade to OTRS 2.4. There are so many performance improvements in 2.3 and 2.4.
You really will love it!
Hi Martin, I cannot upgrade right now, because I have too much work and no time to make the upgrade. Right now, I just want to make the database a bit smaller. Any idea? I will consider upgrading in 1 month or so. Is it a lot of work to upgrade from 2.3 to 2.4 ? thanks, marc

Dear Ralf, deleting old tickets takes me DAYS or even weeks!! Because it takes sooo long to change from one page to another. Can I do this by using phpMyAdmin? If yes, HOW? Why? I just use a generic agent to do that. I specify a time range and delete the really old, closed tickets.
