Hi, I just started using OTRS and find it amazing! A great piece of Software. Thanks to the OTRS-Team for releasing it OpenSource. I installed from the .tgz archive and was up and running rather fast. Now I would like to scale my installation and provide two or three seperated instances of OTRS for different projects and people. I know you can do it by changing an index-number in one config file. My questions are: - Is it possible to add new instances of OTRS with a unique system-id when there is already one that does not have an index? - Is it enough to copy the existing OTRS folder, change the system-id and webserver setup or do I need a fresh install? Thanks - Jochen

Thanks! :)

Sorry, can you explain it a little bit more what you want to do? -=> I would work with one OTRS instance and with OTRS groups. (so it's possible to move tickets between projects and people and your admin work is much easier!)

It would be enough to copy the folder. But take care if you use mod_perl. -=> You need on webserver instance for one OTRS instance.

In the docs it says you can have different instances when you use spearate folders and set a system id value to a unique integer. That's basically fine. But I just started with one system as it was, not setting a system id. My question aims if there will be a problem with the first system, that does not have a system id, when I add others that do have an id.

The projects are really different, some are customer related, different people using the system and so on... I do not want some external people to see the queues, eMail-Adresses and mostly any tickets.

Yeah I saw this note in the docs... will need to have look what's up there with mod_perl2...

This should be possible. Just take care, that you don't change the system id on an running system.

You could configure one OTRS (with group permissions) to one group can only see the one queues/ticket....
