Hello there, We are eagerly anticipating some of the new capabilities in OTRS South Beach. I have a few advance-planning questions: (1) Will it be possible to set up a new 1.2 instance of OTRS and have it point to our existing mysql OTRS 1.1 database? - Is it possible to install & run 1.2 simulatneously with our current 1.1 instance? - Are there any database schema changes? (2) Has there been migration documentation produced? If the answer for (1) and (2) is yes and yes, then: beauty! If not, are you looking for a not-too-skillful volunteer site to be a guinea pig? best regards, thanks for OTRS! (1) Will it be possible to set up a new 1.2 instance of OTRS and have it point to our existing mysql OTRS 1.1 database?
Yes, but you'll have to adapt the database structure. There's an upgrade script for this step.
- Is it possible to install & run 1.2 simulatneously with our current 1.1 instance?
No, due to the changes made.
- Are there any database schema changes?
Yes, see the CVS log for the changes so far: http://cvs.otrs.org/cvsweb.cgi/otrs/scripts/DBUpdate-to-1.2.mysql.sql
(2) Has there been migration documentation produced?
As little as this: http://cvs.otrs.org/cvsweb.cgi/otrs/UPGRADING
If the answer for (1) and (2) is yes and yes, then: beauty! If not, are you looking for a not-too-skillful volunteer site to be a guinea pig?
Indeed we're always eager for precise reports, they help us improve OTRS even more. Whatever you may want to contribute - feel free to do so. With kind regards, Robert Kehl -- ((otrs.de)) :: OTRS GmbH :: Norsk-Data-Str. 1 :: 61352 Bad Homburg http://www.otrs.de/ :: Tel. +49 (0)6172 4832388
