hi Daniel, I checked the apache configuration file yet again and no thr arent any errors in defining the <directoryindex>. meta-refresh option is a good work around but i would like to keep it as a last possible option. Another fix: set an simple meta refresh, that points to index.pl-file. It will do it, too.

Hi Florian, that would be odd. ;-) Because IE uses as you know (?) individually, user-friendly error-pages, that means he won't give you the customized error pages, definied in the .htaccess file. So it's a bad work around. - Dan Florian Gattung wrote:

Hi Florian, as I know and tried on several computers, IE always shows the user-friendly pages. And he doesn't care if the webserver has configured error pages or not. There was a time, I guess in 5.x or so, it was possible to disable this feature. I am not sure, if it's still like this in 6.x.
