Free field in customer new ticket form

I have added a free field to our system called "InventoryNumber". I added a new input on the customer new ticket screen for the cusomter to fill this number in. But how do I get this field filled in to the database automatically when the customer submits the new ticket? Thanks.

This is pmlemented in upcoming OTRS 1.3 (~ Aug 04). You just need to add the free fields to Kernel/Output/HTML/Standard/CustomerMessageNew.dtl (examples are already in there). Thank you for your response. If you could clarify please: Do you mean the examples are in the _current_ (version 1.2) CustomerMessageNew.dtl file or the _new_ version. In other words, do I have to wait for the new version to make this change? Thanks again, OTRS maintainer at UIUC Library
