Mabuhay! For testing purposes im using my own email add and has configured the .fecthmailrc and .procmailrc. Will this testing work? I still don't have a permanent email add to be assigned to the otrs user. I don'e see any email in the otrs queue view. When i see the /var/spool, there are no messages. But when i tried the default or example test files being piped to the PostMaster.pl, its ok and appears on the queue. So, the problem is that i couldn't receive any incoming message coming from my email add. Please advise... If you want to use procmail on your system, you have to configure. Did you configure your MTA with procmail? If yes, try te following: a) send an email to the otrs@localhost user (e. g. "echo test | mail -s test otrs@localhost"). Appears this email, everything works fine! -=> You don't have a problem. b) You don't see this email in a queue, check your MTA log file (e. g. /var/log/mail) an find out what way the email was gone. Why not to the local otrs user!

Mabuhay Martin!
Hope you are fine when you read this new stupid questions from me.
Anyway, i have currently istalled otrs and its working when i use the cat |
Postmaster.pl.
It seems my queue system is working already and all i need is to test it via
email.
I want to test it with my local otrs@localhost account. When I tried
shell#mail otrs@localhost,
its working fine coz i see the mail when i vi /var/mail/otrs. But it doesn't
appear in the
otrs queue. How do i send this mail to the otrs queue?
Actually, what im trying to do is to be able to receive email messages from
our partners who may
report problems in our network. Im planning to have saklolo@asti.dost.gov.ph
as the email address
dedicated to receive network problem reports. So when a partner institution
wants to report
a problem, they would send it to this address. Now, i want my otrs system to
fetch this emails from
the mail server (located in a different machine) and put it in the otrs
queue.
If im going to install fetchmail, what are the things i would need to
configure? Can I also use
procmail in fetching emails from a remote server?
Salamat po.

Ok. You need procmail to pipe the incoming emails (MTA - like shell#mail otrs@localhost) through the PostMaster.pl -=> Then your email will be shown in a queue. If your email to root@localhost is in /var/mail/otrs, the system (MTA) works without procmail! If this is working, go to the next step. If on mail.asti.dost.gov.ph is a pop3 box and you want this email to your otrs system, use Fetchmail. Fetchmail is fetching emails from a pop3 box to a local user (in our case the otrs@localhost user). Config file of procmail: ~otrs/.procmailrc Config file of fetchmail: ~otrs/.fetchmailrc
