Thank guys. I was getting messages in root@localhost. But now there is nothing so my assumption is that authentication is correct but the are 17 emails in the account but they have been downloaded into OTRS. No sign of errors though. ...this is not supported by standard OTRS. But there is an extension which allows to define the port as well as to use SSL. The only drawback is that it needs some additional perl modules to be installed. You find the package here:

However, please remove the process id from the process_id table an run bin/PostMasterMailAccount.pl manually.
