Hi Ale,
Do you have Net::SMTP installed? you can check by running /opt/otrs/bin/otrs.checkModules
In case you don't, you can install it running cpan -i Net::SMTP
You could also set the following parameter in /opt/otrs/Kernel/Config.pm, restart otrs and try again to trigger your notification
$Self->{CheckMXRecord} = 0;
