just to be correctly, the Hardware Types are defined in the catalog class "ITSM::ConfigItem::Hardware::Type”.

Yes you can do it and it is quite simple. It is done in Administration -> general catalog : TISM::ConfigItem::Class Look at the ones already there for examples.
