Upgrade 2.4.7 questions

Hi, We're still running OTRS 2.4.7 and I thought it was about time to upgrade to 2.4.10. (I'm currently testing OTRS 3 on a test server, but we're not ready to make the move yet). So, I can't find any instructions on how to upgrade 2.4.7 to .8 .9 and .10 in the documentation. My questions are: 1. How do we upgrade? Just overwrite files? 2. Can we go from 2.4.7 directly to .10 or do we have to follow the numbers? Any other useful tips are very much appreciated. Btw. Our OTRS system runs on a FreeBSD 8 server. Thanks! Andy

Basically these are just patches and therefor just file replacements. But anyway, you should read the UPGRADING and CHANGES carefully before upgrading to the next version. And yes, you can go to 2.4.10 directly. Cheers, Nils -- Nils Leideck http://webint.cryptonode.de / a Fractal project

So actually, the UPGRADING file on the 2.4 platform does not specify that you can skip the database upgrade section when installing a patch level upgrade. From 3.0 on the UPGRADING now indicates which steps you should skip when performing a patch level upgrade. -- Mike.

Hi,
the UPGRADING file on 2.4.x (I only looked on 2.4.9) does contain this
passage though:
---8< ---
These instructions are for people upgrading OTRS from "2.3" to "2.4".
---8< ---
So there are no recommended steps for doing a "patch" upgrade, as the OP has
already mentioned.

Thanks for all emails!
I wish there were packages of changed files only... Seems to be a lot of
work to restore config files and permissions after overwriting when going
from source.tar.gz.
Anyone know which files I need to restore from my backup after 2.4.10 is
uploaded?
Cheers,
Andy

Kernel/Config.pm, Kernel/Config/GenericAgent.pm, Kernel/Config/Files/ZZZAuto.pm those files should not be overwritten, by default a file xxx.pm.dist is installed, so your files are not impacted. You should however make a diff between files to detect new attributes etc.... Olivier Le 5/12/11 1:28 PM, Andy Wodfer a écrit :

Usually, upgrading to last version for minor upgrades is ok. You should really care for major version upgrades ( 2.4.x -> 2.4.y is ok). Olivier Le 5/11/11 9:48 AM, Andy Wodfer a écrit :
