A quick search field for ticket number?

One of my users just asked me again if OTRS could have a quick search function to search for a ticket number. We also we phpbugtracker, a great free bug tracker, and on every page there is a "Find bug" field in the upper right. All you need to do is enter a bug number up there and immediately go to that bug. But in OTRS we need to perform more clicks and travel through an awkward search form. Can this be added to the feature request list for 3.0? We are currently on 2.3.3. -- Wes Plate Automatic Duck, Inc. http://www.automaticduck.com

That page mentions a widget for OTRS 3.0. Where is that? I tried installing yours but get a framework mismatch error: Backend ERROR: OTRS-CGI-10 Perl: 5.12.2 OS: MSWin32 Time: Tue Sep 14 16:46:12 2010 Message: Sorry, can't install/upgrade package, because the framework version required by the package (2.4.x;) does not match your Framework (3.0.0 beta3)! Well, the dasboard plugin is for the 2.4 framework only. On version 3 you
can enable TicketSearchFulltext via SysConfig, which gives you a search box
that is present on every single page. I must say that I don't quite like the
looks and placement of this search box. If anyone has suggestions, we're
open to that.

You also have the OpenSearch, if your browser does support it. Try to add OTRS as one of your search engines to the browser. On 15.09.2010, at 16:12, Michiel Beijen wrote:
