Dear list-members (and OTRS-specialists ;)! today I tried to update our "old" OTRS 2.1.1 to 2.2.3 on a new host. After larking around with the new installation (4 hours) I got a big and smoking head and now hope to find a solution on this list. Here my problem is: I can't get OTRS to notice the settings I have made in my /opt/otrs/Kernel/Config.pm. I can write there what I want, the OTRS doesn't take the settings over. - For example I set "$Self->{'HttpType' = 'https';", the web-frontend (under "OTRS :: Admin :: SysConfig :: Framework -> Core") shows "http". Very strange: Even if I deleted ZZZAAuto.pm and ZZZAuto.pm from /opt/otrs/Kernel/Files , logged out and restartet the Apache, I get "old" parameters (that I did at the installer-process) in the web-frontend. - Where the hell OTRS takes them?! (On loading the SysConfig-site ZZZAAuto.pm was recreated...) I found that e-mail [1] in the otrs-ml archives but in my case it's not "true"... :( What I did: I made the installation like it is described on the webpage. My system is a Debian Etch and the Apache is running as www-data:www-data. The home of the otrs-user is /opt/otrs and I made teh permission-settings with that command: /bin/SetPermissions.sh /opt/otrs otrs www-data otrs www-data I don't know which information you just still need - please ask! - I will give you all I have. Thanks ahead for your time & help and best regards, Kai Sommer --- [1] http://lists.otrs.org/pipermail/otrs/2007-October/020663.html

Hello all, sorry me for my importunity but I need an answer (and/or solution) for my described "problem". - Is there/here noone that can help me or give me a hint? *bump* Regards, Kai -- Kai Sommer | Schopenhauerstraße 29 | 14467 Potsdam http://sokai.name | OpenPGP-Fingerprint 9B5D AAE8 3D0F 7BA9 2F9D 5E2E FA58 43BD 5599 4068

Hi Kai, Hi Carlos,
thanks for your reply! :)
Did you try the OTRS config using Sysconfig option? I think you mean the options in the "backend" ("OTRS :: Admin :: SysConfig :: Framework -> Core") as an administrator - right!? If so I have to say no. - Usually I only edited my Config.pm and everything was OK.
But after realizing my new OTRS is not changing my settings if I wrote them to my Config.pm (that was created by the installer) I played a little bit with the "Sysconfi option" like I described... Thanks a lot for car, Kai -- Kai Sommer | Schopenhauerstraße 29 | 14467 Potsdam http://sokai.name | OpenPGP-Fingerprint 9B5D AAE8 3D0F 7BA9 2F9D 5E2E FA58 43BD 5599 4068

Hi Kai At previous OTRS versions (2.0, 1.3, etc) I used to edit Config.pm but w/2.2.x version I use Sysconfig option and all is ok. Thank you very much! But: Which (minimum) settings should resist in the Config.pm? (The installer writes some in there...) Best Regards, Kai -- Kai Sommer | Schopenhauerstraße 29 | 14467 Potsdam http://sokai.name | OpenPGP-Fingerprint 9B5D AAE8 3D0F 7BA9 2F9D 5E2E FA58 43BD 5599 4068

Hi Kai, Hi *againandagain* :),
I attach a previous email message regarding Sysconfig / ZZZFiles from Gabriele Deandrea. Thanks for that message but - like I wrote in my first post - that "mechanism" is not true for me/my installation. - So I wrote my e-mail to this list.
If I change something in my Config.pm it is _not_ recognized by my OTRS. That Sysconfig doesn't show that settings is clearly to see 'cause it can't change that settings or touches the Config.pm...- But why is my OTRS not "playing with me" like I wrote it in my Config.pm? I think I should write the minimalest setting - I asked for - to the Config.pm and after that make my changes to the configuration with Sysconfig...
I you need any other assistance... just write us. *done* ;)
Thanks again, Kai -- Kai Sommer | Schopenhauerstraße 29 | 14467 Potsdam http://sokai.name | OpenPGP-Fingerprint 9B5D AAE8 3D0F 7BA9 2F9D 5E2E FA58 43BD 5599 4068
