Y not take an other server, setup a new OS then install the newest version of OTRS (2.4.4). Then make a sqldump and import the database into your new OTRS system. You can read in the "upgrade" manuell which steps are needed to update the database to meet the strukture of the newest OTRS system. Well, you can do it, but i don´t realy know how you wanna shift the content? You have to choose an other name for the OTRS database but the otrs user and password have to be the same.

I wouldn´t do it. I would take the time to update the database to the newest strukture und replace the "old" system with a new one.

Just a short question: I have a very old OTRS installation on my server, 1.3.2.

Instead of updating it, which is a long process, can I install also a second installation of OTRS, the newest one, on the same server? Then I could gradually move some content from the old to the new version.

Actually, the only content I would have to move is the FAQ area and some reply mails and settings. No other content. I could start with a new version. Actually, I didn't mean "move", I rather would copy and paste the content...
