Hi Munroe, I guess you're using the Debian package of OTRS? The only reason the iPhone app really needs write access to these directories is if you want to install it via the OTRS Package Manager GUI, because then you install extra functionality via the web front end, and that means that Apache needs to write to these locations. So what you can do is using /usr/share/otrs/bin/opm.pl to install the iPhone package, and then you can use the iPhone app without the need to give www-data write permissions to the whole /usr/share/otrs tree. -- Mike On Mon, Nov 8, 2010 at 3:37 AM, Munroe Sollog

I can not understand why I should give www-data write permissions to /bin and /Modules. We do not use the 'SetPermissions.pl' script because it seems that permissions are set rather loosely. Can someone explain to me why /bin and /Kernel/Modules needs to be written to? Thanks.
