Wrong customer selection in CC on incoming ticket

Hi!
On an incoming ticket via PostMaster otrs adds a wrong customer on CC and sends a confirmation mail.
I would like to figure out how otrs selects this customer. But I have _no_ idea where to start over. Any hint is apprechiated!
Here is a description of my problem:
All our customer IDs are mailaddresses.
Assume the customers mail address of the incoming ticket is
last@mycompany.com
But additionally there is a customers address like
first.last@mycompany.com
Now the ticket history contains (freely translated from german):
NewTicket - ...
CustomerUpdate - updated: CustomerId=...;CustomerUser=first.last@mycompany.com
...

Can I make an upgrade from version otrs:itsm 3.1.6 to 4 possible in one step (Linux)?
Is there any upgrade documentation?

Before OTRS 4 there was a file UPGRADING.md containing step by step upgrade instrctions. Actually (since version 4 afaik) this file contains a link to the upgrade instructions: http://otrs.github.io/doc/manual/admin/4.0/en/html/upgrading.html There is no "single command" or "single step" upgrade in Linux, even if you use a package manager. "In one step" I meant make the upgrade in onbe phase and not make the upgrade from otrs 3.1.6 -->> otrs to 3.2 -->> otrs to 4.
