When i setup otrs like mentioned in the manual id does not receive my mail.. using the same settings in example thunderbird works fine, but otrs does not. Also i want to access some public folders on the excange server, can some explain me how to define this mail box in otrs settings? they are not pass binded but access is granted with changing profiles in exchange. also i would like to leave a copy on the mail servers, is this possible? thanks!

This is not possible. It only checks the INBOX folder. I use POP3 so can't comment on IMAP but I think if I remember correctly I ran into some issues with IMAP as Exchange advertises it can do GSSAPI (Kerberos) authentication and both the Perl and PHP libraries used to choke on it. This is the PHP bug [http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=33500] and I'm almost certain it was the same issue with Perl, haven't had the time or the effort to go back and retest as the POP3 method works fine for us.

This also is not possible, and with Exchange I wouldn't recommend it either as Exchange changes the messageID of emails at random when viewing them so you would probably end up with 101 copies of the same email being re-added to your ticketing system. If you need to keep a separate copy of incoming emails create a distribution list of the email address you want to receive tickets from and then have multiple mailboxes as the members of the list, one of the mailboxes being the one OTRS will feed from, and the other your storage box. hi steven,
thanks for the info on this .
the leave a copy should be used for copy in case anything goes wrong.
but i can define a rule that all incoming mail will be sented as copy to an
other mailbox, not a big deal.
Do you have any idea if it would be possible to sent my incoming mail to a
imap box, let a copy be sent from imap to a pop 3 box with a forwarder, this
pop 3 linked in otrs, but that OTRS shows it as an original mail? if you
know what i mean?
thanks!

This is a bad idea, having 100's if not thousands of emails in a mailbox that have to be read every time you check for new messages would not be feasible in a production environment and would dramatically increase the delay in getting tickets into the system. Setup a dedicated mailbox to OTRS and if you want a copy of the emails set it up to send to multiple mailboxes.

If Exchange has the functionality on the server side rules then I don't see why not, but by far the easiest way is to use a distribution list. Create 2 new accounts in AD, e.g. otrsbox, storagebox and give each of these an email address in Exchange. Create a group in AD and add both of these accounts to the group, mail enable the group in Exchange to create a distribution list and give this distribution list the email address you want to use to send emails to e.g. help@ When someone emails help@ it will go to both otrsbox@ and storagebox@, your OTRS installation can then logon and retrieve from otrsbox and you have storagebox as a backup should you ever need to go and look for emails. Steven thanks for the hint.
now is there any possibility to parse mail from a public imap folder to
otrs?
(keeping in mind that the public folder does not require a user or pass but
is difined on a windows nt account)

Not as it stands, you would need to modify the source code yourself to achieve that functionality that is if it is possible.
