Hi Sourabh,
This could be related to a number of things, but I'll get the ball rolling:
- Have you installed the SSL module for perl (also confirm which OS
you're running OTRS on)
- is the Net::DNS module installed?
To check the above (Linux)
linux:~# cd /opt/otrs/bin/
linux:/opt/otrs/bin# ./otrs.checkModules
Are you behind a corporate/personal firewall? Could this be blocking the
traffic to that port number?
What is your configuration for mail? (exclude username and password etc.)
Thanks,
David

Hi David ,
I am using windows Xp system for the OTRS deployment. Let me know how I can
check or install the SSL and DNS module for perl on windows system.
I am not behind any firewall but when I am trying to telnet by command
prompt (telnet <IP> 465 ) I am not able to connect to this port.
Following is the configuration which I am using
SendmailModule : SMTP
Host :smtp.gmail.com
port : 465
One more thing which I observed is I am able to see the configuration
changes in GUI but these changes not visible in Config.pm. Is it normal or I
have to edit the configuration file.

Hi Sourabh,
Please use SMTPS as the SendmailModule and not SMTP.
Also, it's perfectly normal that you can't see the changes you make in
Sysconfig in the file Kernel/Config.pm - you should be able to see
those in Kernel/Config/Files/ZZZAuto.pm though. You should not touch
that file manually, just please use Admin > SysConfig to configure
your email.
