is it possible to call custom scripts and modify tickets using custom modules?

hey guys, i'm in the process of putting together a custom monitoring system for a managed services provider, and i'm looking at helpdesk systems. between otrs and request tracker, i'm leaning towards otrs, but i don't know for sure if it can do what i need it to do. hopefully one of you can answer my question. i currently have zabbix monitoring all the devices and sending out alerts, which are fed directly into otrs. this works great so far. however, i need to be able to parse an incoming alert message for certain strings (ie: "such and such a service is down"). if a match is found, i will call a custom script to remotely restart the service and modify the ticket with the result (eg: close the ticket if the service was successfully restarted). is this possible? any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone, I am using OTRS and I am facing problem after sending mail to customer. A) My mail is not reaching to the customer email id. B) mail is bouncing back stating spam has blocked the so and so ip address since the otrs sent mail without any ISP. How do I resolve this problem, can somebody help me in this regards. Using apostrophes in the subject causing problems

I'm using OTRS 1.3.2 When I create a phone ticket and type "someone's computer needs blah blah" in the subject and then finish out filling the rest of the ticket and then click on create I get this error message: Error: called with 2 bind variables when 0 are needed, SQL: 'INSERT INTO article (ticket_id, article_type_id, article_sender_type_id, a_from, a_reply_to, a_to, a_cc, a_subject, a_message_id, a_body, a_content_type, content_path, valid_id, incoming_time, create_time, create_by, change_time, change_by) VALUES (36, 5, 3, '"csheline csheline" <csheline(a)llu.edu>', '', 'normal', '', 'carl\'s computer', '', ?, 'text/plain\; charset=iso-8859-15', ?, 1, 1120157813, current_timestamp, 2, current_timestamp, 2)' So I hit the back button take out the apostrophe and create the ticket no problem. But the error message generated a ticket ID without an article. I delete the ticket ID and everything seems ok. I have 2 questions: 1. Can I use apostrophes at all? 2. Anyone have any ideas? - OTRS 1.3.2 - System time of server is dead on, timezone on server has been checked. - Everything seems okay. Search "text" field case sensitive?

In Otrs 1.3.2 full text search field appears to be case sensitive. Any way to fix this?

I'm using Postgresql instead of mysql. Would this error have occurred using mysql? It shouldn't matter because sql is sql right? OTRS devs: is mysql the preferred database for otrs? Question about LDAP/AD and using SSL

I am running 2.0b2 on Debian using mysql. I have my LDAP/AD connection working. I would like to get it to connect via ssl but am not sure how to set this up.
