Global support software/issutrak or OTRS?

Does anyone have experience with both GSS ( formerly issutrak http://www.thinkgss.com ) and OTRS? Which piece of software supports a better helpdesk implementation? Which would you recommend? GSS supports an inventory modules with an automated collection utility. For those of you using OTRS, how do you handle inventory? Another program or extend OTRS? Thanks for your feedback. Problems w/ getting mail from cron

I'm using getmail to download e-mail from a pop server to OTRS. Under Debian (Sarge) it worked great; Under SUSE 9.2, it works from from the command line, but not in cron. It's possible this is related to the cron environment being different than the regular one, but I'm not sure what the important difference is. The error: getmail version 4.3.10 Copyright (C) 1998-2005 Charles Cazabon. Licensed under the GNU GPL version 2. SimplePOP3SSLRetriever:it@example.com@mail.example.com:995: Delivery error (command PostMaster.pl 18129 error (255, fileparse(): need a valid pathname at /opt/otrs/bin/PostMaster.pl line 26 BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /opt/otrs/bin/PostMaster.pl line 26.)) msg 1/1 (1443 bytes), delivery error (command PostMaster.pl 18129 error (255, fileparse(): need a valid pathname at /opt/otrs/bin/PostMaster.pl line 26 BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /opt/otrs/bin/PostMaster.pl line 26.)) 1 messages retrieved, 0 skipped Here are the lines in PostMaster.pl: 24: use File::Basename; 25: use FindBin qw($RealBin); 26: use lib dirname($RealBin); I did some testing and it seems like when PostMaster.pl is run from the command-line, the value of $RealBin is what would be expected; when it's run from cron, it's unitialized. Multiple customers

I have searched for a solution but have not found the answer. I want to authenticate customers from two different Active Directory servers. The ldap servers have different hosts, basedn, uid, searchuserdn and searchuserpw. Anyone know how to set this up in the Config.pm ?

Questions about 2.0

Greetings, folks! First off, thanks for writing and distributing OTRS for free. It's one of the best support mechanisms I've seen and competes very well with commercial tools. The opensource community doesn't get enough thanks for what it does, and that should be fixed whenever possible! That said, is there any place where a feature list for OTRS 2.0 is available? I'm competing 1.3.x against a commercial tool called 'Footprints' for our support team, and I'd like to know if any of the "Deficiencies" in OTRS vs. Footprints are close to being fixed. Also, one last question: Is there a built in mechanism for automatically adding new customers (IE, emails OTRS hasn't seen before) directly into the customer database, or would I have to write my own? (OR, is there a better way that I just haven't thought of yet?)
